DIY FeedMyPaws Recipe: Mitarashi Dango for dogs!

Hi everyone!

Today we'll be doing a super simple Mitarashi Dango recipe just for doggies! It's made with delicious dog-friendly ingredients and the best part is? You only need TWO ingredients! Step-by-step pictures below :)

Ingredients (makes 24 dango balls):

50g Canned Tuna (or cooked Tuna)

280g Sweet Potato (this is the weight before I cooked them)

You'll also need some skewers/wooden sticks. Don't worry if you don't have them, our wooden sticks ended up in the bin anyway because it was served to the pups sans those scary pokey sticks. Just get them if you wanna take some pretty pictures :)

The canned tuna I use (this one has no added sodium. If you live overseas, try to find a brand that doesn't contain added sodium, or you can also use freshly cooked tuna/any cooked fish of your choice):

If you can't weigh your sweet potatoes (some supermarkets don't have a weighing scale), I got two that are roughly this size:

Okay, here goes!

Step 1: Peel and chop sweet potatoes (to roughly the same size)

Step 2: Place them in a pot of water and boil till tender

Step 3: After they're cooked, mash them till there are no lumps. The fewer the lumps the better, as lumpy sweet potatoes tend to fall off the skewer very easily. However, if you don't intend to put them on a skewer, then don't worry about the lumps

Step 4: Add tuna

Step 5: Mix well till it comes together and forms a sticky paste

Step 6: Make them into little, even-sized balls (you should get 24 little dango balls)

Step 7: Time to skewer!

Step 8: Grill them (without any oil) in a heated non-stick pan. It is very, very important to use a non-stick pan for this. Otherwise, they'll be stuck onto your pan and it becomes really tough to remove!

Step 9: Flip them over (be careful, it's hot!) to get even grill marks all over the little dango

That's it! You're DONE! :D
