DIY FeedMyPaws Recipe: 2 ingredient Tuna Cookies!
Share
Here we go! Another super yummy, super simple recipe that you can do at home! Hehe. This time we bring you 2 ingredient Tuna Cookies!
These cookies are a high-protein, healthy, grain-free snack for pups and they're so affordable to make!
Here's the tools you'll need:
Fork
Microwave
Mixing bowl/plate
Teaspoon
Microwaveable plate
Here's the ingredients you'll need:
Tuna, and Egg. Uhm, yup that's it. Haha. This makes 16 teaspoon-drop cookies :)
Try to get Tuna that's salt-free. Out of all of the readily available canned tuna brands (and variety, goodness there's A LOT), this was the only one I found that didn't contain salt in it. It does contain "sodium" if you read the nutrition chart on the left, but I'm guessing this would be the natural salt found in the tuna, as opposed to added salt :)
Place tuna and egg in your mixing bowl/plate and mix it all together! At this point, you can feel free to add some other dry ingredients like turmeric, or dried parsley, or dried mint. You can also use a blender for a nice, smooth paste but I didn't bother. Using a blender simply means having one extra item to wash and let's face it, washing dishes isn't fun, haha!
This is what you'll get :)
Using a teaspoon, spoon the mixture onto your plate (make sure it's microwave safe). Flatten it out the best you can and as uniformly as possible and place it in the microwave, uncovered.
Here's some important tips: the timing varies considerably with regards to the size, and number of cookies you put on your plate. For 6 teaspoon cookies, I placed them in the microwave at 800W for 3 minutes and 45 seconds. For 1 teaspoon cookie, I placed it in the microwave at 800W for 1 minute 30 seconds. Every microwave is different (mine is ancient, haha) so it'll be good to do a test! When you take them out of the microwave, you'll find that they'll be kinda glued to the plate, but just use a small knife or spatula to lift it and it'll come right off :) The cookies will harden slightly after coming out of the microwave and cooling down, but if you find that they're still kinda soft, just put them in at 10 second intervals till they become crunchy :) Don't worry, it won't burn so easily! :)
TADAH!!! Doesn't this look so good?! It's got quite a snap to it too! Of course, if your pup prefers a softer cookie, just reduce the microwave time :) Or try doing different textures and see which one he/she likes best! Keep these cookies refrigerated and try to consume them within 3 days :)
